Job Description

Job Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) delivers nursing care to patients in various healthcare settings, ensuring patient comfort and safety, and maintaining effective communication with the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:
Assist with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, feeding).
Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration).
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Collect samples for testing (blood, urine, sputum).
Assist with wound care and dressing changes.
Patient Monitoring:
Observe and report changes in patients’ condition to RNs and physicians.
Document patient care, including updates on treatment and patient progress.
Support Services:
Prepare patients for examinations, tests, or procedures.
Assist with medical equipment and instruments as needed.
Ensure patient rooms and medical equipment are clean and maintained.
Communication:
Provide patient and family education on health care topics and post-treatment care.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Compliance:
Adhere to infection control and safety standards.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Stay updated with continuing education and professional development.

Qualifications:
Education:
Completion of an accredited LPN program.
Current LPN license in the state of practice.

Experience:
Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not required.

Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

Working Conditions:
Work in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, or private homes.
May involve long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting patients, and handling medical equipment.
